Our story

Grandmother's tandoor, our kitchen's fire

Chef Meera Iyengar grew up between a Kannada home in Mysuru and her grandmother's tandoor in Lucknow. Saffron House began in 2016 as a six-table room behind a garage on 12th Main, and the recipes have not changed since — only the fire got hotter.

Today we cook over charcoal daily, mill our own masalas, and buy produce from three farms within 60 km. The menu stays tight on purpose: 38 dishes, all of them things we would serve our own families.

  • Clay-oven tandoor fired with coconut husk — marinated overnight, cooked to order.
  • Produce from three local farms — seasonal vegetables change the menu every few weeks.
  • Breads pulled to order — naan, butter kulcha and ghee-laden parathas from 7 am.
  • 10% of every bill to mid-day meals for school children in Indiranagar.
Atmosphere

Quiet at lunch, candlelit by 8 pm

Forty-eight seats, a brass-fronted bar and a private room for up to 40 guests. Walk in for a table at the bar, or reserve for the full dining room.

Questions we get often

Do I need to book, or can I just walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome at the bar every evening and for lunch on weekdays. For dinner between 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm we strongly recommend a booking — that is when the dining room is at its fullest.

Can you cater to vegetarian, vegan and Jain diets?

Yes. Around 70% of our menu is vegetarian, and the kitchen keeps a separate Jain prep area with no onion, garlic or root vegetables. Tell your server when you order and the chef will guide you.

Is there parking and are you wheelchair accessible?

Valet parking runs from 6 pm on all days, and two-wheeler parking is in the basement with lift access. The dining room, bar and private room are all step-free.

Do you host birthdays and private events?

We host up to 40 guests in the private room with a set menu at ₹4,200 per guest, and we can set up a cake or a small decorated corner at no cost. Call the restaurant and we will send a full deck.

What about a quiet table or a high chair?

Both, with notice. Mention it in the notes when you book, or call us a few hours before — we keep two tables by the window free for families and a quieter corner away from the bar.
